The Truth About Recovery
Recovery Is Here 2026: The Truth About Recovery is an educational event to address stigma around substance use treatment and recovery by replacing misinformation with facts, lived experience, and meaningful dialogue.
Last year, Recovery Is Here events brought students, communities, and providers together across Alabama to increase understanding and highlight that recovery is possible.
This year, Recovery Is Here will focus on one central question:
What does recovery actually look like?
This 90-minute event includes:
• Treatment Options: Voices from the Field -brief presentations from treatment professionals representing different approaches and levels of care
• Recovery Pathways-short videos highlighting multiple pathways to recovery, including medication-supported recovery, mutual support communities, and faith-based recovery
· Interactive panel discussion and audience Q&A
· A brief post-event booth and conversation period where attendees can connect directly with speakers and learn more.

Our Mission
Recovery organizations and the Treatment and Recovery Committee of the Alabama Opioid Overdose and Addiction Council, in partnership with community colleges are launching Recovery Is Here — a powerful statewide campaign mobilizing action, awareness, and support around substance use disorder (SUD) during National Recovery Month this September.
